Our objective is for guests and members to experience our worship service and stay for a free lunch. Money raised from our garage sales is paying for supplies. We will be gathering reports and putting the annual report together to be handed out on Jan. 29. Please have your reports into the office by email attachment on Jan. 18 or handwritten on Jan. 11. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Our Help to the Evangel Hall Outreach Program A donation of warm clothing is on its way to Evangel Hall in Toronto. It includes 45 pairs of socks, 10 pairs of gloves, 15 hats, 4 scarves, 1 pair of slippers, and 2 large bags of toiletries. Many thanks to all the women of our Church who donated to keep these needy people warm. Previously, the entire congregation sent our White Gift and Mitten Tree donations to our local Inn of the Good Shepherd. Generous hearts truly help others. Thank you. New Sanctuary Banners Made by the Friendship Circle, the beautiful new banners have been given in memory of Dean De Long by his wife Karen. They reflect our 2011-2012 theme, "Rooted in Faith...Growing in Love." ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Romans Bible Study We study the book of Romans from the New Testament using workbooks and video presentations. Cost: $15.00 for the 8 week study. Our gifts to Presbyterians Sharing support Brock University’s Ecumenical Chaplaincy. The chaplaincy at Brock is all about connection: providing a safe place where people can have honest conversation, cultivate friendships, and develop positive group dynamics. Put these three together with a program like the Toonie Supper-a Wednesday evening, home-cooked style meal that serves a maximum of 20 students-and there are great opportunities for connection and spiritual growth. Let us pray for Brock’s Faith and Life Centre as it helps enhance the presence of The Presbyterian Church in Canada on campus and establish a place in student life. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Prayer of the Month Club On the last day of the month, no matter what day that falls on, we are gathering at Laurel Lea St. Matthew's in the downstairs hall for a time of prayer and fellowship. There will be a short prayer service from 5:45 PM to 6:30 PM, followed by a ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Laurel Lea St. Matthew's has received a letter of thanks from PWSD. In 2010 $5,294.50 was forwarded. We are thanked for our financial and prayful support, making an impact on lives around the world. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Children's Choir" Are you aged 8-15? Do you like to sing? Would you want to sing on a special Sunday each season? Contact the church (519) 337-7078, Mrs. Laurel Liddicoat-Newton or the organist, Mr. Ollie Case to let them know if you are interested. Practices would be on Sunday mornings before church on an "as needed" basis from 9:45 am – 10:15 am. There will be 2 practices before the Sunday special song is sung. Special songs for Remembrance Sunday, Advent, Epiphany Season and Easter. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Every second Friday of the month our LLSM team provides lunch at The Inn of the Good Shepherd. Mission and Outreach and the Ladies' Association accepted the Stewardship challenge of 2011 with the intention of raising money for the Operating Account. With the outstanding support of the Congregation, and pies sales in the winter and fall, $2288.76 was raised. Thank you. It looks like a semi-annual tradition has started!
